Leadership is activism. It’s how we change the world.
For over 17 years, I’ve led organizations to develop 50,000 change-making leaders globally. Along the way, I learned an important truth of leadership development:
We all have the agency and potential to lead.
Leadership comes from within, not from a title or a formal role. It’s a fire in your belly to make change, a desire to serve and to help others thrive, and the humility to know that isn’t not about you.
The rest can be taught.
Think of it as a free MBA in Executive Leadership.
Over 17 years of senior leadership as a CEO, COO, Director and Board Member from the grassroots to the global, I’ve learned a lot. Often from successes, but also as a leader who has failed plenty, been blind to my privilege, and suffered the imposter syndrome.
With humility and help from my friends, I created Just Open Leaders to share from my journey as a:
- Global Executive working with large teams (8000+ people), boards in 13 countries, and $20m budgets. I’ve led these teams to create impact across 70 countries, to shape global policy, and to power rapid, 300-500% growth.
- Expert Fundraiser meeting 100% of the fundraising goals I’ve ever had. Highlights include securing 450% annual revenue growth, winning major strategic funding (beating out 300+ INGO consortia), and winning 7 best in class CSR/ESG awards
- Strategic Leader developing and delivering 40 non-profit strategies. The results were programs serving up to 3.5m people annually, mobilizing a network of 2500 non-profits and 25,000 change makers, creating research and advocates to shape global policy, and and winning sector awards for innovation.
- Trainer and Leadership Multiplier developing over 30 senior leadership teams, 200 senior leaders and 50,000 global changemakers on 5 continents. 95% of whom were young, BIPOC leaders.
- People-First, Values-Driven Leader, reflected in: 99% staff satisfaction; 98% trust in leadership; 98% belief in values; and 96% DEI satisfaction across diverse global teams.

While I have been fortunate in my leadership journey, leadership shouldn’t be about privilege. We need as many new, diverse and emerging leaders as possible.
That’s why I created Just Open Leaders, sharing from my leadership journey to help others on theirs. Because only together, as leaders, can we shift the power and change our world.
